The common thread
Txotx straight from the kupela in season, bottled cider all year round. Made with native apples from our own orchards.

“The age-old tradition of Basque cider. The call, the kupela, the ritual. Come and live it at Sagarlekua.”
Feel the rush of the cider as it leaps from the barrel, share the moment among friends and enjoy the food that is most truly ours. A ritual lived with the heart.

“The views are fantastic of the bay below and the food is delicious. We had anchovies, roast pepper and fresh-caught grilled turbot, a great lesson in Basque, then apple tart to finish.”

Before you visit
The txotx is the ritual of natural cider: the kupela (the barrel) is opened and the cider pours out in a fine stream that you catch in your glass, standing up and between courses. At Higeralde we live it during the cider season, with cider made from local apples grown in our own orchards. Outside the season we serve bottled cider all year round.
We recommend booking, especially at weekends and during the txotx season. You can book through the website on the Reservations page or by calling 659 11 61 43.
